iLinc Technical Requirements
The success of your Web-based events depends on a positive experience from the very beginning (i.e. logging into the session). Whether a host, presenter, or an attendee, all participants need only the most basic requirements to collaborate in iLinc Web conferences. We've found that the best way to ensure a stellar experience for your attendees is to verify the minimum requirements before you get started.
Client Requirements
- Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP2, 2003 R2 or Vista:
- Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher (Recommend ActiveX enabled)
- Firefox 1.5 or higher (Recommend Java installed)
- Memory: 128 MB; recommend 256
- For Vista: 1 GB
- Available Disk Space: 15 MB
- Processor Speed: 600 MHz; 1 GHz for sharing; 1.5 GHz for editing
- Native Data transport on HTTP/port 80 - firewall and proxy server friendly
- Bandwidth: 56 Kbps
- Display: 1024 X 768, 16-bit color
Apple® Mac® (runs on Intel- and PowerPC-based computers):
- Mac OS® X 10.5 (Leopard): Intel, PPC G5 or G4
- Mac OS® X 10.4 (Tiger): Intel, PPC G5, G4 or G3
- Mac OS® X 10.3.9 (Panther): PPC G5, G4 or G3
- Firefox 1.5 or higher
- Safari™ 2.0 or higher
- Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 or higher
- Memory: 256 MB; recommend 512
- Available Disk Space: 15 MB
- Processor Speed: 800 MHz; 1 GHz for sharing; 1.5 GHz for editing
- Native Data transport on HTTP/port 80 - firewall and proxy server friendly
- Bandwidth: 56 Kbps
- Display: 1024 X 768, 16-bit color
Note: Users joining sessions from PowerPC machines will not have an optimal experience if streaming video or internet audio (VoIP) are enabled and used within the session.
If Using Internet Audio or Video during Online Sessions:
- Full duplex sound card
- Headphones with microphone
- Video camera
- For Sending or Receiving Video:
- Minimum Processor Speed suggested: 1.3 GHz
Recommended: 1.5 GHz or higher
- Minimum Memory suggested: 1 GB
- Recommend 100 kbps if using Internet Audio and/or Video
- Voice and video on either UDP 11730, HTTP 80 or HTTPS 443
Server Requirements:
- Windows 2000 Server SP4 or Windows Server 2003 SP2
- 3-GHz or faster processor
- 1 GB RAM (2GB RAM for over 500 concurrent users)
- 150 MB hard disk space
- 100 Mb Network Interface Card (NIC) supporting TCP/IP
- Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 or 6.0
- Remote mail server (for email invitations and reminders) or local SMTP
- SQL Server 2005*, iLinc embedded database or MySQL (5.0)
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 or higher (.ppt format needed)
- Bandwidth-related Features & Requirements:
- Data transport is native HTTP on port 80; firewall and proxy server friendly
- Voice and video on either UDP 11730 or HTTP 80
