"The support from Jimmy Georgiades of Parsec Infotech is a great added value for our use of iLinc for merging video conferencing, streaming video and teleconferencing technologies and in achieving our goals to create a virtual community,"   Massimo Sabbatini, Head of the Erasmus Centre. The Erasmus Virtual Campus was launched in 2001 as part of an initiative to broaden collaboration across the agency's extensive industrial and academic partnership base and since then has powered numerous e-learning, Web conferencing, training, lectures and even online technical symposia reaching more than 150 universities, research institutions, government institutions and companies active in the space industry.

"Leren op Afstand"

Parsec InfoTech facilitated a unique distance learning project successfully implemented in three primary schools in The Netherlands (making use of Learnlinc).

The project enables the participating primary schools (11 to 12 years) to experience "live" instructor-led virtual classes given by a teacher in one location to the classrooms of participating schools; to enrich the learning experience of the pupils by enabling them to interact with other pupils outside of there own school environment; and to research the type of skills required by teachers for this form of live virtual teaching.

The objective is to develop and sustain a new form of working in a culturally rich and open learning environment (being implemented in the participating and other interested schools).

logo Nissan Forklift

Design, development and maintenance of a custom made Content Management System for Nissan Forklift Europe BV(NFE). There are three modules, one for access by the public, one for Nissan distributors and the third for administrators/authors. The applications are database driven and make use of dynamic web pages/templates developed using Macromedia's ColdFusion development tools.

The webs applications are database driven, which provides NFE the advantage that content can be directly controlled and edited, without the need for technical help. This allows staff to independantly keep the site up-to-date and lively.

Parsec Infotech, in collaboration with TECTRA, had the honour of designing and developing the custom made content management system for 5010's web application. For this purpose, use was made of E-Tectra's engine (Web Content System) which was customized to the clients requirements. There are two modules, one for access by staff members for data input (FAQ's, document creation and content review; and the other for the general public. Both applications are database driven and make use of dynamic web pages. The applications are developed using E-Tectra engine so as to provide an much needed tool for supporting, as well as updating the dynamic information system. Whether changes are made by a single person or by a team, the system's structure covers both, putting emphasis on "common sense" and simple procedures, so as to minimize input errors from users.

"Learning Lapland"
: a Regional Project in Finland for Developing a Virtual Polytechnic. At present, more than fifteen schools in Lapland have so far been connected to the Kemi-Tornio "Virtual" Polytechnic using Learnlinc. The intention is to connect all schools in the region. At present, 120 students from the Lapland region are registered for a three and a half year graduation programme. Two methods of "live" virtual teaching are used, namely, instructor-led classes whereby students participate together as individuals; and classes whereby an instructor from one School gives live lessons simultaneously to classes of other participating school's. In the later case, teacher's at these remote locations act as facilitators/assistants.

Gangelschool: Making use of iLinc software to set-up the virtual classrooms, teachers and students communicate via audio/video and interact making use of synchronized whiteboards, web browsers and shared applications. An interesting aspect is that at locations where there was no internet connection available via the phone line, a two-way satellite broadband internet connection was successfully implemented. This e-Learning project, won the 1st prize for innovation in education within the group in 2006. The e-Learning project made a positive contribution to the successful schooling of the students while they stayed with their guest families. Just as important, it made the step to their reintegration on their return more easy. The project is completing it's 2nd school year with student numbers rising.

TaxSeminar.nl

taXSeminar.nl began in September 2008 as first in The Netherlands to offer live online, interactive courses via the Internet. The first series of 58 courses focused on continuing education for accountants, tax consultants, lawyers and administrators. They participate from home or the office in this new course format.

Many have discovered that it is a very pleasant way to save travel time and avoid traffic jams. The iLinc Green Meter on the site keeps track of CO2 emissions saved by the participants and gives a good feeling.

More and more Dutch accountants, tax consultants, lawyers and administrators have found the way to taXSeminar.nl. Their experiences are very encouraging. Participants are simply enthusiastic about the medium. The recordings of the tax seminars can also be viewed at any time.

Various publishers and organizations have shown interest. Soon after the start, the Tax Board, the Federation of Tax and Permanent Education NOAB points awarded to the taXSeminars.
